The Ambassador Cup race course is staged directly on the Detroit River with the official start and finish line positioned off the Port Detroit dock along the Riverwalk. The eastern mark of the course is located off Belle Isle, while the western mark is positioned near the Ambassador Bridge, creating a dramatic race course through the heart of downtown Detroit. Offset shoreline marks bring the GL70 fleet closer to shore, giving spectators an up close view of the boats as they approach the finish line in full public view.
